Winter Art Show
Ribbed Waves / 2016
"To practice art, no matter how well or badly
is a way to make your soul grow” -Kurt Vonnegut The statement above couldn't be more true. Ceramics has been a way for me to grow as a person and experience new things. Let me tell you how I cam about it. When I first started last year, I had no experience and had never really heard of it. I mean, I had heard of it in history class and knew that the chinese had mastered the craft ages ago, but other than that, this form of art was a mystery to me. I've never really considered myself an artistic or creative person. To be honest, creativity is something that I struggle with. I'm a very square shaped and neat person. Rarely to I do things in an abstract way. I like things neat, and I like them organized(however my room tells a different story). That being said, I've really enjoyed my time in Ceramics. I never thought that I would enjoy creating something so much. Over the two semesters of Ceramics I've taken, my skills and love for the art have grown tremendously. |
To practice art, no matter how well or badly |
These blue bowls were what I made for this years art show. For a majority of the year I had no clue what I was going to do until one day. My artist statement goes into more detail about my inspiration for the show.

Show awards
Honorable Mention / 2016
The honorable mention was a green ribbon that the faculty would place on any exhibit that they liked. I didn't get one last year and getting one this year. IB Senior Choice Award/ 2016
The IB Senior choice award was a new award added to the show this year. The Seniors taking an IB art class were each given one ribbon to place on the table of their choosing. I was so excited to get this it really meant a lot. |
